Part-Time Seasonal Position
Overview:
Become a vital part of creating a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors at Forest View Park District! As a Park Safety Monitor, you will be the friendly and watchful presence in our parks, dedicated to ensuring the well-being of our guests and promoting a positive environment. You'll play a key role in providing information, offering assistance, and ensuring adherence to park rules and regulations, all while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.
Responsibilities:

Act as a welcoming point of contact for park visitors, providing general information, directions, and helpful guidance.

Engage with guests to offer safety tips and promote responsible park usage.

Observe park activities to ensure guests are utilizing equipment correctly and safely, intervening respectfully when necessary.

Monitor visitor compliance with park rules, ordinances, and guidelines, addressing infractions in a courteous and informative manner.

Conduct routine visual inspections of park amenities, including playground equipment and restrooms, promptly reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to the designated Park Commissioner.

Serve as a visible deterrent to potential issues, contributing to a secure and pleasant park atmosphere.

Collaborate effectively with local law enforcement when required, acting as a crucial link between park visitors and authorities.

Report directly to and support the Park Commissioner(s) in maintaining park standards.

Demonstrated keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.

Possess a positive, approachable, and professional demeanor in all interactions.

Genuine enthusiasm for working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Consistent availability on weekends is essential; flexibility for weekday shifts throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons is highly desirable.

Proven reliability, a strong work ethic, and a high degree of personal integrity.

Ability to quickly learn and apply new information and procedures, maintaining excellent performance standards.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and understanding approach when interacting with the public.

Comfortable with standing and walking for extended periods.

Able to maintain a 2-3 mph walking speed over a variety of terrain (grass/asphalt) for 50% of shift.

Ability to stand on concrete/asphalt surfaces for extended periods.

Prior experience in customer service or a related field is preferred.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Proficient in communicating effectively via phone, email, and SMS.
Schedule and Location:
This is a seasonal, part-time position requiring a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Candidates should reside within a 10-mile radius of the Forest View Park District.
